Diversity and Problem Solving

Diversity trumps ability in many different problem solving contexts. Part of the reason that diversity is useful is because it makes us feel sort of uncomfortable and awkward, which keeps us on our toes. There's lots of evidence that people seek out like-minded people to help them solve problems. We're not having a good time when we think we are smarter as a result of misjudging others.
