What Your House Was Worth in 1991
Council tax bans are still based on 1991 property values in England and Scotland. You can work out what your house was worth in 1991 using calculators. If both that and the valuation check show you are into higher band, then you want to get in touch with Council tax office or Scottish Assessors Association. But I would do absolutely nothing unless you get the second tick in the two step check. The reason is very deliberate because you are, cannot ask for your band to be lowered. What you can push for is an assessment of your banding.
