The FAA's Staffing Problems Delay Flights
FAA documents reveal staffing problems delayed a total of 4,622 flights last summer. Florida facility responsible for controlling airspace used by nearly every commercial flight was short staffed during more than 200 shifts. FAA vows to hire 1500 new controllers this year and 1800 next year But agency is also warning issues will not be fixed fast with another key facility in New York roughly half-staffed.
