The Dangers of Organization in Science
The existing anarchic state of science gives many opportunities to evade particularly obnoxious control. It is felt that organization might put an end to these possibilities and perhaps more effectively than ever block unorthodox developments in science. Any new organization of science, if it is to be vital as well as effective, must bring with it the Democratic principle which will ensure adequate participation by scientific workers of every grade of seniority. How this could be done will be shown in later chapters.
