The Path Dependency of the Government

The government is essentially an entity to which we give up some of our rights in order to get the security, the order, the benefits that a government provides. We talk about it in the context of, for example, the farm laws and the whole MSP system; now there are too many intermediaries and there's too much path dependency there. The US at the end of the day was born in essentially an anti-tax moment. And therefore, the way they set up their entire apparatus is around checks and balances. So I think of the government in that sense, that it's a trade-off that citizens make with the entity that is regulating them.
