The Impact of Mass Media on the Left

I think probably the high point for the version of me that was optimistic about the ability to use mass media to build power and take effective action on the left is June of 2020. And it had a pretty sharp drop after that point. I both think it's valuable to still acknowledge kind of how remarkable what happened in 2020 was for all of its flaws and all of the really messy fallout from it. We saw an unprecedented scale and part of why the crackdown and response has been so gnarly is that it scared the hell out of a lot of really unco unpleasant people.
