The editors are always the guardians of the story, especially even for the director, they're so caught up. There's a great expression or philosophy in editing that I love, which is movie first, scene second, moment third. These ideas apply to all kinds of filmmaking; it doesn't have to be animation. The motto is fail early, you know, uh, try to just get it out and see what's wrong with it. Don't make it precious.
