Is There a Gap Between Stimulus and Response?

In Man Search for Meaning, Frankle argues that we're not bound to our environments. Yes, the environment can be a harsh determiner of our actions, but it is not fate. We do have a choice. Whatever terrible environment you find yourself in now, it is a training ground for you to become a better person and for you to exercise your power of choice. Suffering does not automatically make your life void of meaning - there are people who are suffering immensely right now.
