Lenin and his bolsheviks argued that if the proletariat played a decisive role in toppling the czarist regime, they could win a powerful position inside the resulting democratic government. To achieve this decisive place inside post autocratic government, the bolsheviks also argued in favor of immediate armed insurrection. Martof and the menshevik were far more in favor of holding off on the need for armed insurrection. And they planned to rite out the period of inevitable bourgeois liberal rule without trying to bring about the dictatorship of the proletariat too soon.
