AI Safety - What's Your Money Going Toward?

I wonder what you think about the recent implosion of effective altruism. I don't see it coming back from this, to be honest. It's unsolvable as long as we have an oligarchic system because no one will look out for the system as a whole. People in the system want to create problems, not solve them. But practically speaking, what do you think that their money go towards? Their money goes towards haranguing AI researchers to put someone in to make sure chat GPT never cites FBI crime statistics.
