The Odyssey and Its Wild Description
sylla, the way it's first described in that text from circe telling odysseus about this, you get this just wild description of this beast with so many limbs and all this. The sirens are completely they're just called sirens, no description soever. So to have this sort of lavish, wild description like this is something that a lot of people have written scholarship on. And we notice in the beginning, even with describing sylla the way that circe describes she has this mechanism of pulling up whatever wanders in the straits. When we mention their names to day modern world, you immediately think of the odyssey.
