The Clean Versus Unclean System in Genesis

Midrash discusses god telling people about clean verses unclean before moses for the purposes of sa. It could also be that since genesis was written probably far after these events that they were already familiar with, the clean, unclean system and just used language that the audience would have readily understood. The seven pairs of clean and unclean animals are going to be used for sacrifices and food for the other animals,. And maybe like a back up in case something happens to the batos.
