With bankruptcy ever closer, the absolute monarch finally did something akin to reigning absolutely unilaterally. Louis moved to quash the rebellion of the courts, the same courts he foolishly at the beginning of his reign. The king himself was, well, let's say, preoccupied. He fell asleep just as his ministers informed the irritated and disgruntled judges that they were being forced to register the government's reforms.
