The Court's Effort to Block Spending in Political Campaigns
The court has really been especially activist in recent years in blocking mood to regulate money in political campaigns. There is the famous citizens united ruling from two thousand ten, which held that the individual right to spend money without limit as a form of speech also extended to corporations. This was not an overnight shift. It was something that has built for decades. And it has been furthered by so called conservative judges, often also with the support and participation of liberal judges as well. These rulings ought to call into question our normal assumptions, or normal discourse about judicial activism.
