There was this PC game that I used to play when my brother and I were kids called The Curse of Monkey Island. And one of the silly aspects of it was that you would fight pirates, but you didn't really fight them,. But the fights were focused around insults. So if you threw an insult at the pirate and he responded, then now you got to keep that response in your kind of toolkit of insults and responses.
