Can the Taliban tackle Afghanistan’s terror problem?

The Inquiry

CHAPTER

Afghanistan - Part Three - The Taliban

In December 2022, all local and foreign non-governmental organizations were banned from employing Afghan women. That caused a small number of aid groups which rely on female staff to deliver humanitarian aid to women and children to temporarily stop work in the country. Sporadic small-scale public demonstrations led by women are happening, but the Taliban are quick to shut them down. Dr Asfandi Amir is senior expert in political violence and South Asia security issues at the US Institute of Peace.
