The Bernard Gats Case
Do you remember the Bernard Gats case from 35 years ago? It's a long time, man. But that was subway vigilante Bernard Gats who our dad was being accosted by some guys and he pulled out a pistol and he shot him up. Was he convicted? Did he serve time in prison? I don't remember either. This was at a time when crime rate was high in New York Street crime. And there is a racial dimension to it because the guy who Daniel Penny, who's been charged, who did the chokehold was white, a veteran, ex-marine and our hapless Michael Jackson imitator, Jordan Neely is a black guy.
