In modern times, the beard has taken on more connotations. People always think it's a Del Castro. And after 9-11, there was this whole notion of you know, maybe he's a terrorist if he's black or white. I think it would take a long while before you would see North American politicians and even European politicians wearing beards because the whole notion is what's he hiding?
