The Fed's Role in the Great Depression

In the 18th starting from the greenback era money were greenbacks. Sometimes there just wasn't enough dollars, there was a dollar shortage. The national banknotes were in fact fully guaranteed by the US government. That said during these crises shortages of currency would develop and the Fed was created to make sure that there was always enough currency.
