The Power of Self-Sacrifice
There's a kind of, there are parts that read almost sort of cynical to me, right? The less justified a man is in claiming excellence of his own self, the more ready he is to claim all the excellence for his nation, his religion, his race, or a holy cause. A man is likely to mind his business when it is worth minding. He does point out that the capacity to resist coercion stems partly from the individual's identification with a group. But if you go down the road as hard as he does, the picture of humankind that it presents is one I fundamentally reject.
