What if John Spurrier Told George Washington to Say?

The president was a man of faith, and he did have slaves. His moral commitment shaped his entire life. He said if something is wrong, i'd need to address it and make it right. Upon his death, washington ended slavery in his own family on his own initiative. And what can the average citizen who may not share your faith take from that?
