The Effect of Altitude on Obesity

BMI has increased in the UK and US, but that is entirely due to higher BMI as being more common. The active ingredient of altitude seems to be hypoxia - air is thin at high altitudes, so the body gets less oxygen. Exercise in a low oxygen environment does seem to reduce weight more than exercise in normal atmospheric conditions.
