The Difference Between Political Theory and Political Philosophy
David Frum: Machiavelli is a kind of hinge on which this distinction between the political theorists and the political philosophers, like how seriously do you take him? He says that if somebody wants to say political normativity, the kind of wrongs or odds or shoulds that are about the political are not moral, then that view would have to be developed in a convincing way. "I think at least from that menu of options, none of them is a very strong argument," he writes.
