I feel like a disproportionately high number of queer and trans people I know are Jewish. The Bible is sort of obsessed with kindness to the outsider, you know, trans people are outsiders. Judaism opens up that kind of thinking in some way or like the possibility of like, maybe I'm really quite different from most of the people around me," she says.
