The Relationship Between Alan Ginsburg and Junkie

Junkie was a confessional novel. It provided a kind of honest look at this previously unexamined social group. The portrayal of drug addiction in those days was very out of bounds. So you could condemn it, but to actually show how it worked and talk about it in a way that was not condemning was very provocative at that time. And as I alluded to before, junkie only found a publisher thanks to Alan Ginsburg.
