These are root hooks for you to hook into that user's preference and use them in a sort of reliable way throughout your application. The line height one is really cool for baseline alignment, because now you can set the line height and then use that line height unit in your grids. I also have a demo with a gradient. A gradient has perfectly colored lines of text because I mask the text with a gradient or make the size of each color stop one line height.
