The Neurobiology of the Post-Posterior Singulate Cortex
There's a brain region called the posterior singulate cortex. It gets activated when we're not doing anything in particular. We've done a bunch of neurophenomenologic experiments, which is saying we're linking up people's subjective experience with their brain activity using FMRI and EEG. And that's helped us map this brain region as getting activate when we're contracted and getting deactivated when we're in a meditative state or even in flow.
