The New Moses in the Gospel of Matthew

In the Old Testament, Moses finds safety in Egypt. In ancient Jewish records or retellings of the Exodus, we also have the idea of magi being associated with Moses' birth. The one who saw his life is now dead, so it's safe to return. And that's going to fulfill Hosea 11.1, out of Egypt I have called my son. So we're going to see that as a growing image in this story. There's so much richness to this story. We can do our whole Bible study on the first two chapters and spend months and months just on these first two things.
