The Importance of Light on Form
Val Luton was a filmmaker from the 1940s. His black and white films were on really low budget. He died very young, it's almost like the film industry did him in. With those limitations, he had such a tremendous influence on later filmmakers. If you care about imagery and creating mood with imagery and with light, I recommend either his nine films or if you don't mind spoilers watching the documentary,. The Man in the Shadows.
