The Thucydides Trap and the Future of International Relations

I want to take a step back from that firstly and ask you a more philosophical question. Is international relations just human psychology writ large? And the truth of it is if you study international relations theory as I've done a little later in life, some of it makes sense... But for individual political leaders then to say almost like 21st century punches pilot, I wash my hands of all the above because these forces are too big for any of us to control,. It's just horseshit.
