In Vedanta the devas are the powers of our sense organs. They give us the power to see and hear and smell and taste and touch. Who powers all of this? There's one power behind it all: Brahman. But the senses do not know it. The mind doesn't know it. Right now the body thinks, I am the reality. Just as behind or deeper than this body mind is awareness shining through the eyes and ears in every experience. So this is the victory that awareness Brahman won for all of us - giving us the experience of this universe.
