Archbishop ritter was the spear head of equality for black people within the catholic church in saint louis at this time. He stood his ground on the principle of opening the churches and schools to black people, even threatening to ex unite any one that went against his wishes. By the time the exorcism was done, father bodern would lose almost forty pounds. But he did want to create what we now know as the exorcists diary because he was of the opinion that the case and how it was dealt with would be a good reference for future exorcists who might find themselves locked in a battle with evil.
