The History of Concrete
Humans have been using lime which is limestone heated to make this very alkaline powder right back thousands of years. It was used for all sorts of chemical processes but also used for certain construction purposes from before the ancient Romans. They lifted it to a level of a very impressive sort so things like the dome of the pantheon which is still the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world is produced using their version of concrete.
