I'm naturally predisposed to align everything on my desk at perfect 90 degree angles. But is that a good thing? Over the past few years I've been slowly, very slowly, trying to release my compulsion for order and scheduling in favor of a more organic way of working. It's messier and at times quite uncomfortable but it also feels more generative. By not getting obsessed with arranging everything, you give yourself more room to range, more room to do something unexpected, and more room to be creative.
