In graduate school, we looked at the world. We had a theory, we tested it with data, and then we decided whether the theory was right or not. I still think economics is pretty powerful, but i don't think i ever thought that necessarily, those kind of models were good for making personal decisions. What's been fascinating about the last 20 years of the internet and the smart phone is that the answers are always here,. Whether it's somebody's batting average, or the capital of an obscure country, or what movie am i going to like? Or what book would i like if i liked this book?
