Is India the Land of the Hindus?

The idea of hindu nationalism, that india should be a hindu state, predates independence. It was first really start to gain steam in the twenties and thirties. And so now that that movement is in power,. they're trying to realize that dream that they've had unrealized for so long. So what role, if any, does India's cass system play in this violence?
