The author came out to his mother by reading a transcript of a gay sibersex chat window he left open. His parents, who are chinese immigrants, weren't religious per se, but they did believe in a higher power that happened to hate gay people am. "They took issue with homosexuality more on like a base level, family values place," the writer says.
