The Failure Stress of a Warrn Cable
An additional tensile test showed that the presence of a warn area modified the behavior of the cable. The tests, since they were limited to the objective set by the investigation, did not make it possible to establish a law for the failure of a warrn cable. So they can't definitively say exactly when it would break, but they knew that there was not enough stress here to have caused it. Only in the case of an almost complete wear through can an in flight failure occur.
