The Politics of Polarization

The term polarization as a description of what's going on in America rose to prominence in the late 1960s. Nixon actually picked it up, but he liked the idea of polarizing the electorate. Polarization is now referring to America, Americans, American society, supposedly increasingly falling apart into two opposing camps that hold increasingly extreme views and positions.
