The Door Was Shut

The line in verse 10, and the door was shut, is interesting in the way that it's constructed. It doesn't tell us who shut the door. And so I do have to kind of wonder whether it could be an act of discouragement or like gatekeeping by someone else. Part of the appeal for many people is this idea of a heaven where not everyone gets in. The fact that there are five of the 10 women who don't want everyone to be in there makes it completely believable to me that there's someone else in this story who also does not want everyone to being in there.
