The Tactic Acceptance of the Existence of Language

The reason why we have psychosis, according to Lacan is they never undergo that primitive primordial acceptance of the existence of language. Even before you say, I like it or I don't like it, you acknowledge that there is an it to be liked or disliked. The psychotic doesn't even get to that point. It's a prohibition against any further living as though prohibition didn't exist. In the case of language, it would be a prohibition against pretending like language isn't there. But that is exactly what the psychotic does. That's the psychotic at work.
