The Origins of Egalitarian Societies

The thesis of the book is that we had egalitarian societies for much of hunter-gatherer history. The way that those egalitarian societies came about is by brutal murder, right? So someone was significantly more talented, attracted significantly more mates than another person. And this eventually developed into social norms that were like a quote-unquote moderate version of what's called egalitarianism.
