The Problem With Free Will
There's a tension about whether we believe there's free will and moral responsibility in a world in which everything is determined, everything is caused. So it seems like what's pulling us toward the idea that there's no free will in a deterministic universe is this kind of capacity we have for abstract theoretical reflection. What's pulling us towards the idea that people aren't morally responsible is an affective emotional reaction. And here different philosophers will give different answers.
