The Role of Men in Societies
In patrilineal, patrilocral societies, baby boys are celebrated at signs of the family line. In countries where men monopolise prestigious positions, they continue to be revered. Men meanwhile become accustomed to deference and react aggressively to insubordination. To preserve their dominance, Bangladeshi men may try to control women's earnings. Some women try to earn a little money through a home-based work but they remain firmly under family control.
