What Gets Measured Gets Developed?
Julian Zelizer's first novel was about the measurement problem. He says capitalism is good at rewarding what it can measure, and very bad when it comes to values. In a career conversation you want to understand from people what motivates them for their work. You've got to know what their dreams are, and you don't want to be creepy,. But i think one of my favorite parts of radical candor is a description of sort of career conversations where your really take the time to have a life conversation with someone.
