How did horace relate to virgil, who was the great poet of rome. Virgil never mentions him, as i understand it, but he seems to e have been in av or very aware of his eminence. There's a certain sense in satires one five that horace is affectionately sending up the rustic world. When we we turn to virgil's aenead, we see virgil actually seeming to adopt some of that terminology to talk about a much more high flown epic encounter.
