The Nature of Forgiveness
Douglas Rushkoff: The idea that forgiveness could be real presents a radically different standpoint. He says people are auditioning plausibly or otherwise to be the person who has been wronged. But they aren't in a position to give atonement because they did not suffer the crime, he writes. Rushkoff asks if it's even possible and what does this say about the nature of the real? "If we can oppose that to the zero-sum game ... there is no forgiveness"
