The History of the British South American Airways
After the war, wealthy Brits were itching to get out of town. The UK government created a commercial airline called British South American Airways or BSAA. They needed planes powerful enough to fly from Europe to South America and clear the Andes Mountains. Luckily, they had just a plane in mind - the Avro Lancaster. By 1946, it was fully operational but its first fatal accident killed 20 people.
