Is Mental Overhead a Good Way to Think About It?
Mental overhead is a good way of thinking about it. Is this a change that's going to increase or decrease the amount of mental overhead associated with using this thing, or calling this function? In the case of something like objects or micro services, i guess, because there's all this implicit state that i kind of need to know about. And in the case of interostructures, might even just be state in the sense of what version is deployed and so on. There's definitely ways that it can be helpful and reduced mental overhead.
