Odoni: As a student at the university of virginia, i was steeped in this eurocentric vision where you really never saw your own culture or history. I took a course n in british architectural history a and not once in any of those classes was colonialism ever other than colonial style architecture. The legacies of colonialism in the transatlantic slave trade that was building the wealth of those people who were building those paladian villas ever, ever mentioned. Odoni: There's a history there, but you never see it. It's never mentioned your formal education. And so i just became very confounded and disillusioned, actually, and frustrated.
